Strategy of gameloft for game creation

In the ever-evolving landscape of the gaming industry, one company that has left an indelible mark, particularly in the mobile gaming sphere, is Gameloft SE. Founded in December 1999 by Michel Guillemot, a co-founder of Ubisoft, Gameloft quickly established itself as a powerhouse in the development and publishing of video games, with a special emphasis on the burgeoning mobile games market.

Gameloft was established on September 14, 1999, by Michel Guillemot, who is one of the five co-founders of Ubisoft. As of February 2009, Gameloft had delivered more than 200 million copies of its games since its initial public offering (IPO), in addition to achieving 2 million daily downloads of its games through the App Store for iOS. Gameloft’s CFO, Alexandre de Rochefort, stated that the company’s games produced approximately 400 times more revenue on iOS compared to Android. This disparity is partly due to Google’s failure to optimize its Google Play storefront to effectively encourage customers to make purchases. Consequently, Gameloft significantly reduced its investments in Android game development in November 2009. In July 2010, Gameloft made an alternative attempt to market Android games by selling them directly through their website, bypassing the need for Google Play.

Gameloft’s games have frequently faced allegations of being replicas of other products. When questioned about this matter during the November 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, the CEO Michel Guillemot responded by stating, “The videogame industry has consistently explored a restricted range of themes.” Perhaps just one novel concept emerges annually.Levi Buchanan of IGN came to Gameloft’s defense during the criticism from numerous users about Guillemot’s comments. Buchanan argued that Gameloft’s games are typically refined and polished, unlike the games based on unique concepts.
